Disney Hotel Lady

Unlocking the magic of Disneyland, one hotel at a time.

Holiday Inn (1 Blk/Disneyland)

I had a spur of the moment opportunity come up to go back to Anaheim, and the Holiday Inn had a great rate for me at the last minute. So contrary to my usual stays, this was only 1 night and I didn’t get the chance to capture as much footage as I would normally. But I will share my first impressions with you here briefly.

Again, bear in mind this is based on only a one-night stay.

The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. Being a rewards member with IHG gets you a goodie bag upon check in (she made sure to note that this “perk” is specific to this hotel). In the bag were a bottle of water, a bag of chips, and a package of cookies.

The hotel is larger, consisting of several buildings. The buildings I ventured through, though, were connected by hallways, and I didn’t even notice I’d entered a separate building.

It is located directly next to the Mickey & Friends / Pixar Pals parking structure. They claim to be one block from Disneyland, but it’s a “Disney” block. Walking over to Downtown Disney in the morning, I could look across the street and see how many city blocks I was actually passing (6-8 city blocks).

I don’t think this is a great choice for first-time visitors to Disneyland because it could get confusing trying to navigate to the park for the first time from this hotel. The map they gave me at the front desk is out of date, though perhaps technically accurate.🤷‍♀️ (You should NOT walk down Disneyland Drive.) The saving grace is the ART stop is right at the entrance of the hotel. So if you are a first-timer staying here, I recommend taking the ART bus, at least your first day or two until you get your bearings.

If you’re a seasoned veteran of the Disneyland Resort, though, there are great deals on rooms at this hotel.

The hotel is old and looks to need a refurbishment pretty badly. There were zero USB outlets in the room. And I forgot my wall charger. Thankfully the gift shop had one, but even then the plug felt loose in the outlet and I had to check off and on to make sure my phone was actually charging.

I saw the pool and hot tub from a window and both looked nice enough and were being enjoyed by guests.

There is no breakfast included, but there is a restaurant onsite. If you haven’t added breakfast to your reservation ahead of time, they’ll ask you at check in if you want to add it. They offered me a reduced rate for breakfast, but since I was only staying one night and had to leave pretty early, I passed.

I really disliked the “bathroom.” I use quotes because, as you’ll see in the video below, the sink and counter area was almost center in the bedroom. The toilet and shower room was very small. I didn’t mind that so much, but the sink position really annoyed me. No one will be getting ready in the morning without waking up some or all of the other occupants.

There was a nice size fridge, though, and a microwave, both of which I utilized. I couldn’t get my TV to turn on and realized too late in the evening to bother with calling maintenance.

This is one of the few remaining hotels that stills offers double beds in some of its rooms. If you’re into that or that fits your needs for your trip, that might be a draw for you to this hotel.

Without further adieu, here is the tour of my double/double room at the Holiday Inn.
