Disney Hotel Lady

This new hotel is a few minutes’ drive from Disneyland, but unless you have other activities/business in the area, I would skip it. Let’s talk about why.

The drive to Disneyland from this Springhill Suites was surprisingly fast. That may depend on traffic, but for us, we were at the parking structure within 15 minutes. Distance to the parks is no problem.

It’s also just a few blocks from California State University’s Titan Stadium and the Fullerton Arboretum.

The lobby/breakfast/bar area is fairly ample for the size of the hotel. Free breakfast is always a welcome site for weary travelers, and you’ll find the standard fare available here. Coffee, tea, and water are always available.

The gym was quite a surprise for the size of the hotel. Lots of room and varied equipment available, plus a water station for refilling your bottle.

The pool was standard yet a disappointment. It’s enclosed by a frosted glass fence. The size of the pool is fine, but when inside the glass fence, there’s only one table with chairs and a couple of lounge chairs. So hanging out by the pool is virtually impossible if more than one or two families are trying to swim. We went down to the pool one day and a large family had overtaken the entire fenced area. So we didn’t get to swim that day!

What makes it more odd though is that there are TONS of chairs and tables just outside the fenced pool area. So how do you watch your kids in the pool? It just doesn’t work.

There’s a nice fireplace, though, for chilly California nights.

The room was a typical Springhill Suites arrangement. It was new, clean, and comfortable. We had a standard king suite. This was the first time I’d seen the new trundle sofa setup. The bathroom had a shower only, so it wouldn’t suit families with small kiddos who need a bath.

Aside from the pool setup, I wouldn’t say there’s anything wrong with this property. It’s only 3 years old and still has a bit of shine. It’s just kind of forgettable.

It’s isolated on its side of the street, being “blocked” by the freeway and train tracks — yet you are charged for parking. Why? No one should be competing for a space, so what’s with the extra fee?

Guest laundry is advertised on their site, but despite a search for it we couldn’t find the facilities. The industrial hotel laundry is very clearly on the first floor, though.

If you have activities at California State University, this hotel could suit your needs very well. But if your trip is Disneyland-specific, you’ll be able to find another property closer to the parks.
