Disney Hotel Lady

Unlocking the magic of Disneyland, one hotel at a time.

Hilton Buena Park

This Hilton property is attached to The Source OC shopping mall. Just walk out the back doors of the lobby into shopping, dining, and theater choices. If you’re looking for K-pop goodies or Korean makeup/skincare secret weapons, you’re sure to spend some time here.

LOBBY / BAR / RESTAURANT

The lobby is a huge open concept. There’s some sunken seating with a couple board games for hanging out. The Rosemary Room serves as the bar and restaurant which, if you didn’t know better, would just seem like an extension of the open-area lobby. Even the kitchen is open concept. You can watch chefs push pizzas into the oven.

My meal here was delicious. Cameron was a great server/companion to me on my solo dinner. I asked him which of my two choices he would recommend and he offered to surprise me. He got me an iced tea to go when I was ready to depart. Every time he saw me in the lobby thereafter he made sure to say hi. Thank you, Cameron!

On the other end of the lobby, you can find the gym and a business center-style space with lots of desk space.

Note: There is no self-parking option at this property if you are bringing a vehicle. It is valet only. The valet staff were always helpful, friendly, and punctual. Be aware, it is an extra charge. During my stay, I was charged $18 per night.

POOL

The pool deck is large with lots of seating types. I also noticed a corn hole game available for guests. There is no hot tub.

I had my pool time on a Tuesday afternoon. I was almost the only one present, others came and went. I was the only one who got in the pool. I did not notice any poolside food/beverage service, though it is supposed to be offered and I was there during “standard” pool service hours (usually 11am-4pm).

The pool looked very inviting and sparkling clean. But. But when I actually started swimming around, I kept coming in contact with what felt like (what I am choosing to believe were) plastic pieces. Like maybe pieces of a water bottle? Only they had been floating around so long, any remnants of color or labeling had been eaten away by the chemicals. Now I’m sure all the pool chemicals in a public pool would make quick work of materials like that – but I still feel like that’s too long for debris like that to be in a public pool! I was immediately off-put and ended my pool time early.

ROOM

Besides my dinner with Cameron, my absolute favorite part of this property was the bed! I wish I didn’t have to get up so early during my stay here just so I could enjoy that plush, comfy bed a little bit longer.

A big shock for me – even though it is right there on the website – was there are no mini fridges in these rooms! I love coming back from whatever activities I’ve had for the day to a cold bottle of water in my room. But beyond that, I have a medication that needs refrigeration. So I was in a pickle.

I called down to the front desk to see if they had a limited number they keep on hand that can be requested. This same thing had happened to me years ago at a Marriott property and I quickly received my mini fridge. The sweet gal at the front desk here, though, said she did not know if they had that available. She would check with housekeeping and have one sent up, or if not, call back with options on how I could be accommodated. An hour passed and I needed to leave to my next appointment. I hoped I’d come back to a mini fridge set up in my room, waiting.

No such luck. I came back to find no mini fridge, and my ice packs almost melting through my medication’s travel bag. I called down to the front desk again and was told they did not have any mini fridges and the only option they could offer me was cold storage through the front desk. I had to go down to the front desk every time I needed my medication, take back up to my room to administer, and then return to the front desk to my meds back in the fridge. It was a royal pain. Thankfully, I only take that medication once a day, but I cringe for anyone else who needs a cold medication more often.

CONCLUSION

While I thoroughly enjoyed the bed, and my dinner, I think there were enough other negatives associated my stay that I really wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending this property. Especially for a family traveling in SoCal.

This property really seems geared toward business travelers.
