ALO Hotel by Ayres
I stayed at this unassuming hotel for 3 nights for D23 weekend. It’s not fancy, but it was perfect. Could it be perfect for your vacation too? Let’s find out.
LOCATION
This property sits at the corner of Chapman Ave and The City Dr S. It’s only 2 (large) blocks from The Outlets at Orange, so very walkable. Disneyland is only a 10-minute drive away, or the ART bus stops right out front. The UC-Irvine Medical complex is just caddy-corner.
LOBBY / RESTAURANT
The lobby is not very large, but very cozy with tables, chairs, charging stations, and fireplace. Coffee is always available, next to restrooms and the entrance to the restaurant/free breakfast. Somewhat out of place is a large iMac with printer for your business needs.
Interestingly, there is no gift shop at this hotel.
The small restaurant Anepalco serves up some standard and adventurous Mexican fare in the evenings. In the morning, there is a complimentary breakfast buffet. Take advantage of the pleasant patio to take your meals or adult beverages al fresco.
POOL
There is a basic pool and hot tub, some loungers and tables with chairs. The sunset mural added to the outside of an otherwise drab wall makes for a bright and calming presence.
Outside the pool area is a serene courtyard area, just off of some meeting rooms should you require them.
Be mindful you will need your room key to enter the pool deck and to re-enter the lobby when returning from the pool.
ROOM
Time for our main event! The double queen room was spacious. Even had a *small* view of Disney fireworks behind the Best Buy next door. Nice size fridge and microwave. Let’s have a look.
CONCLUSION
With reasonable pricing, free parking, free breakfast, and a nice location, ALO Hotel should definitely be on your list of potential hotels for your Southern California vacation!
