Unlocking the magic of Disneyland, one hotel at a time.

Holiday Inn Orlando-Disney Springs Area

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in the Disney Springs area while I attended an entrepreneurship workshop next door at the Hilton. I chose this property because I wouldn’t need to rent a car: I could walk to the workshop each day; Mears could take me to/from the airport; and Disney Parks transportation is offered for a nominal fee.

And I planned to do all this with Hurricane Helene looming over. Let’s find out how it went.

Coming from Arizona, I wasn’t even aware there were threats of hurricane-level weather creeping up on Florida for my travel dates until the event organizer sent a message assuring us everything was going ahead as planned. When I began to pay more attention, I decided to fly in a day earlier than planned. My original flight was slated for the exact day the most severe weather was expected.

In all the haste of changing my flight arrangements, calling the Holiday Inn to find out about adjusting my room reservation fell to the bottom of the list. Thankfully, my husband was able to call them while I was in the air and they assured him they’d be ready for me.

I landed in Orlando safely and boarded my Mears bus (more on that process in a future post). Upon arriving at the hotel, I approached the front desk and, sure enough, they had all the details correct for my modified stay.

Isn’t a free adult beverage upon checkin just the BEST way to settle in to your hotel? That’s exactly what you get at the Holiday Inn (click here for a Disneyland-area property offering the same!) One voucher per person for beer, wine, well drink, soda, juice, or bottled water (so the kiddos aren’t left out!)

Let’s show you the room first this time!

This hotel sprawls out a bit, but also goes vertical just off the lobby. Make sure you take the correct elevator to your room. One elevator bank goes up the tower; another goes up the 5-story sprawl.

The pool area at this property is so beautiful and I wanted so badly to have a chill day here. But the weather and workshop had other plans for me. But isn’t it so inviting?!

Also, don’t make a fool of yourself with the pool gate, like I did. lol. You pull the knob on the top of the gate up! It’s not a traditional latch or magnet.

The little bar area serves food for dinner and there’s a grab-and-go pantry next to it. At the base of the tower sits the breakfast “restaurant.”

The gym is next to the arcade – YES, there’s an arcade! Video-game- and air-hockey-lovin’ teens (or adults) will love it.

There is one washer and one dryer on the fourth floor of the sprawl, if you need to do laundry. Ask at the front desk for better directions.

You can absolutely walk to Disney Springs from this property. It’s about a 15 minute walk (for me anyway; maybe only 10 minutes for some.) There are crosswalk bridges over the main intersection so you do not have to worry about crossing the busy street.

I felt this was a great property for my needs, and it could be great for anyone visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Definitely potential to save some moolah on your trip here! I can’t wait to try another Disney Springs-area hotel on a future trip to Orlando. Don’t be afraid to consider them!
