Unlocking the magic of Disneyland, one hotel at a time.

Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove

The Residence Inn in Garden Grove is just over a mile and half from the entrance to Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. Now that’s too far to walk to Disneyland in my opinion. Way too far. But the location of this property has other perks, like being less than a quarter mile away from Target, and being close to some great restaurants like Red Robin, Buca di Beppo, Mr. Pho, and Joe’s Italian Ice.

As you may know about the Residence Inn brand, these rooms are “apartment style,” or suites, that come with living areas and kitchens. Some even come with 2 bathrooms!

Our king suite was on the ground floor. It was in reasonably good condition, though you can tell the building is starting to age. The sofa in the living area pulled out into a queen bed, so the king suite could accommodate 4 guests. Everything was pretty much as expected with the room.

A great perk here is breakfast included in your rate. It was a nice spread with hot and cold items, as well as the coveted waffle making station. Breakfast did get very busy, so be sure to allow a little extra time to navigate through. There is quite a large seating area for breakfast, but it was practically filled each time we went down. This being Southern California though, feel free to take your plate al fresco and enjoy the chairs and tables also on the pool patio.

Speaking of the pool patio, the outside area at this property could be a real treat for kids of all ages. Not only is there a large pool, there’s a splash pool, hot tub, basketball hoop, table tennis, foosball, and other lawn games, as well as grills for barbecuing.

To round out the amenities at this Residence Inn are a grab-and-go store, cocktail lounge, gym, and laundry. I did make use of the laundry facilities with no issues. There’s a utility sink in the laundry room as well if you have any pesky stain issues to work out.

I chatted with a sweet family from Canada when I made use of the hot tub. They were traveling as an extended family group and couldn’t say enough good things about their 2-bedroom suite.

With a large parking area, free breakfast, host of amenities, and rooms to fit everyone, I think this hotel would be a great option for those looking to make Anaheim their home base for their Southern California vacation.
